Rebooting Environmentalism for the 21st Century

By Ross Robertson - enlightennext.org

“Nature” is over. The twentieth century did it in. There’s not a liter of seawater anywhere without its share of PCB and DDT. An altered climate will reshuffle the ecological deck for every creature that breathes. You can’t escape industrialism and hide from the sky. It’s over. From now on, “Nature” is under surveillance and on li

Walkable Communiteis

Worldchanging.com

Walkable communities are the no-brainer, urban design solution of the decade. But couching things in lofty design terms can make a simple idea -- like a pleasant stroll past your favorite coffee shop on the way to work -- sound like a New Age-y cause of the week. This video from the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) makes a clear, succinct case that's easy to understand. Planning communities that are dense and walkable, like the one shown in the video, a… Continue

Obama and Brown plan for a new war

By Leonard Doyle - INDEPENDENT

"I know these steps won't sit well with the special interests and lobbyists who are invested in the old way of doing business, and I know they're gearing up for a fight as we speak. My message to them is this: So am I."

Barack Obama is reaching out to Gordon Brown to help deliver an international climate change treaty and steer the world tow… Continue

The Victorian Bushfires – Individual or Group Response?

According to official figures the bushfires burning through the State of Victoria, Australia have claimed 181 lives, destroyed at least 750 homes and left more than 330,000 hectares of land burnt out. In the face of the immense human tragedy wrought on our Australian neighbours, it is natural for us here in New Zealand to wish to immediately send help; to in some way appease… Continue

Hi Sarah,

Are you interested in becoming a Greenpeace volunteer? If you are please fill out a volunteer registration form online at: http://www.greenpeace.org/new-zealand/take-action/volunteer/volunteer-registration-form.

Once we receive your registration form you will receive a monthly newsletter outlining the different ways that you can contribute to help Greenpeace campaigns. The newsletter also includes environmental networks and initiatives that are happening around New Zealand, and interesting news and videos from around the world.

There will be lots more coming up this year for the climate campaign as well.

Many thanks

No worries, Sarah.

Have emailed our network of 200+ volunteers and supporters in Dunedin, so fingers crossed lots of new people join too.

Also wanted to get those on here to join the group too!

Fingers crossed for the magic 100 mark...

Dave :-)
