This year Fair Trade Fortnight's theme is Environmental Justice - recognising that the world's poorest people have the smallest carbon footprints, but they are the ones whose jobs, homes and food resources are most affected by climate change. Our biggest nationwide campaign during Fair Trade Fortnight is called BIG ACTION FOR BIG CHANGE.
We're asking people to sign up to www.mybigaction.ning.com with an action you can take to support trading and environmental justice. It could be 'I will host a DVD night where we will drink and eat fair trade and organic foods and watch 'Black Gold' or another documentary that shows the need for fair trade' or 'I will drink only fair trade coffee for all of Fair Trade Fortnight.' There's plenty of ideas on the website - but you're welcome to think something up yourself. Wacky actions are always good! You can blog about your action and upload photos and videos about it.
There's also information about the local and national events planned for the fortnight...film festivals, coffee mornings, public speeches, cycle races... have a look at the wesbite or chat to the manager at your local Trade Aid shop.
