Take the Pink Ribbon challenge this Breast Cancer Action Month

October is Breast Cancer Action Month and this year You can join The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) in taking ACTION against breast cancer and help prevent New Zealander's from developing and dying from this terrible disease.

Join the hundreds of generous New Zealanders who fundraise in Breast Cancer ACTION Month to take The Pink Ribbon Challenge and make a goal towards keeping a healthy lifestyle for your self and to set a fundraising goal in the month of October.

The fantastic team at Exercise Room in Parnell have donated their expertise to the project by outlining 9 steps toward a healthier lifestyle, which is an essential element of the campaign. Keeping healthy isn't about running marathons and eating celery sticks, but making little changes where it counts so you will see the benefits.

Jeanine Gribbin, Fundraising Manager says "We are always overwhelmed by the amazing level of support for the cause shown by our communities in Breast Cancer ACTION Month- we are excited to join with them to see what New Zealand will accomplish in 2009!"

There are 5 different levels of fundraising goal, and this is what makes it so easy to participate- it allows people to commit to a level they are comfortable with, while still making a difference! The levels are: $100 Pinky Challenge, $250 Pink Ribbon Challenge, $500 Pink Supreme Challenge, $1000 Pink Magic Challenge, $2,500 Hot Pink Challenge

Heather Shotter, Executive Trustee of NZBCF says "The Pink Ribbon Challenge is great because it is achievable for anyone. Whether you are nine or ninety, you can TAKE ACTION this October and raise funds and awareness about a disease that affects over 2,500 New Zealand women diagnosed each year and countless families and loved ones."

The Pink Ribbon Challenge centres around the number ‘9' because it is such an important number for NZBCF. 1 in 9 New Zealand women have a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer, the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal, The Foundation's largest fundraising event is October 9 in 2009.

Some FUNdraising ideas: Get sponsored to cut out the coffee for 9 days, Get together with the girls and walk 90km collectively, raise $900, lose 9 kgs over 9 weeks, Run 9km in a silly pink outfit - the sky is the limit!
